En esta prueba a fondo del LANCIA DELTA HF Integrale Evo 1 de 1992, concretamente la unidad número 36 de las 310 fabricadas de esta serie especial Martini 6,
Ca fait toujours un p’tit truc quand il faut parler de Lancia. Quel gâchis… Un tel palmarès, de telles caisses pour finir en mode survivor en voie de disparition ! Pourtant, j’suis sûr qu’ils auraient pu faire quelque chose… Surtout qu’en pleine mode des caisses rétromodernes, Lancia aurait eu de la substance pour offrir une gamme tendance et se sauver de la noyade. Mais bon, ce ne sera pas le cas… Alors histoire de nous achever, voilà que débarque la mythique Delta HF Integrale Martini. Allez je me lance… Au sein du groupe Fiat, Ferrari aurait pu briller tout là haut, en mode supersportive, missiles énervés… Juste en dessous, Maserati reprenait le flambeau des GT, berlines sous testo et gardait l’exclusivité du SUV. Alfa jouait la sportivité en restant sur sa Giulia et Giulietta V6 turbalisés… accompagnées des quelques coups d’éclats, 4C, 6C et 8C… Fiat s’occupait du discount, et développait la famille 500 qui a l’air de remplir les caisses. Et enfin Lancia… la marque reprenait l’esprit des GTi d’antan… Une Delta, une A112 revisitée, un coupé qui reprenait les lignes de la Fulvia… Et chaque modèle avec sa version bien shootée aux hormones ! Puis à l’arrivée, il est où le problème si les caisses sont des rivales, ça finit quand même par tomber dans la même maison ! Voilà , comme ça, vite fait en 2 secondes… mais avec les moyens et une bonne équipe marketing et produits, y’aurait eu moyen de sauver la marque de Turin et lui donner un 2nd souffle. mais non, à la place, il l’ont laissée crever à p’tit feu, en sacrifiant son passé, son palmarès (Le plus gros en rallye !), son histoire. Et la Delta HF Integrale y a largement contribué. Jamais un cube n’aura été aussi musclé, séduisant et envoutant. Aussi performant qu’efficace, la Delta servait surtout à Lancia d’aller enfiler les titres en mondial de Rallye, 10 au total, dont 6 rien que pour la Delta. Au cours de ses 14 ans de carrière, Lancia fera tenir son HF à grand renforts d’évolutions puis de série limitées. La Martini est l’une d’entre elles, hommage au partenaire historique, mais aussi au 5ème et au 6ème titre consécutifs de la compacte italienne testostéronée. En fait il y aura 2 versions Martini, la 5 et la 6. Toutes les 2 seront basées sur l’Evoluzione 1, avec ses 210 ch (la dernière non catalysée) pour 1350 kg et l’aéro d’un parpaing. Mais l’esthétique mise sur un blanc pur, juste rompu par les bandes aux couleurs de Martini (Forcément !). Les Cromodora en 16′ s’habillent aussi en blanc. Les montants derrière les custodes arrière arborent le logo HF, les portes reçoivent l’inscription World Rally Champion. On finit avec les fesses de la Delta, le hayon est surplombé d’une aileron réglable, et une plaque vient annoncer le pedigree et la rareté de la bête, en l’occurence, une Martini 6 de 92. Un des 310 exemplaires (400 pour la Martini 5). Dans l’habitacle, les baquets et les panneaux de portes recevaient une sellerie spécifique en Alcantara bleu, et le logo HF apparaissait sur les appuie-tête. Un morceau de carbone servait de base au levier de vitesse ainsi qu’à une plaque numérotée. La Lancia Delta HF Integrale est devenue un classique. Et chacune de ces séries limitées sont entrées dans la légende. The 1993 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo II will be auctioned off by Silverstone Auctions on Feb. 25. The first-generation Lancia Delta had a long life as both a humble economy car and a rally special.
The Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 ‘Martini 5’ In vanquishing the competition to dominate the World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Lancia Delta HF was quick to cement its ‘future-classic’ status. But in more recent times, the boxy homologation special has garnered a cult following among the Instagram generation thanks to Eugenio Amos’ wild restomod version, the Futurista. When Lancia won its fifth consecutive constructors’ World Rally Championship in 1992, it celebrated the extraordinary achievement with a special edition of the Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 billed the ‘Martini 5’. Just 400 individually numbered cars were produced. They differed from their ‘regular’ production counterparts in numerous ways, not least the signature Martini stripes running down the sides, the Recaro seats trimmed in grey Alcantara with contrasting red stitching and seatbelts, and the World Rally Champion badges on the tail. This Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 ‘Martini 5’ As the special plaque mounted just below the gear stick denotes, this Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 ‘Martini 5’ is the 54th of the 400 examples produced. It was delivered new to Italy, though later was sold to a Brit based in Spain. In 2012, having covered 80,000km, the car’s subsequent Marbella-based owner commissioned Cronique Esport to carry out an extensive restoration. Cracks and corrosion on the body were addressed, before it was repainted and adorned with new correct-type Martini stickers and refinished badges. In addition to a full rebuild, the engine received a plethora of upgrades, including sportier camshafts and a larger turbo, the latter of which can be manually adjusted with via a switch in the cabin. Crucially, the Delta was properly tuned on a rolling road. Its current power output was noted as 292bhp, almost 100bhp more than the standard car and getting on for that of the Integrale’s World Rally variants! A stainless-steel exhaust system was also fitted, which we can confirm sounds deliciously raspy. Other works included the replacement of the brake discs and pads, refurbishment of the 16-inch wheels (the original 15-inch wheels are supplied with the car), and the fitment of sports adjustable dampers at each corner. Since its restoration, this Lancia was sparingly used by its Spanish owner who, in 2014, had it registered in Spain. There are several further invoices on file, confirming that it has been properly cared for throughout its entire life. As of 2019, before it was sold to its current owner, the mileage was noted at 105,716km. It’s covered fewer than 1,000 further miles since then. Throughout the course of this Delta’s life, the car has been used as it was intended and bestowed with love and professional care. Its restoration and upgrades mean this Lancia delivers the thrills of a box-fresh Delta HF Integrale Evo I, but with welcome added oomph. It makes all the right noises, too – buzzes and whooshes galore. We sincerely hope its new owner continues to enjoy what this rare and unique homologation special has to offer and, of course, fly the flag for the ever-increasing Make Lancia Great Again movement. Reading time: about 2 minutes The Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 was to be the final homologation car for the Lancia Rally Team, and the crowning glory on what is now remembered as the most successful Group A car in World Rally Championship history. In total, it took 46 WRC victories, it won the Constructors Championship 6 times in a row from 1987 to 1992, and it contributed to drivers’ championship titles for Juha Kankkunen in ’87 and ’91, and Miki Basin in ’88 and ’89. The ‘Martini 6’ was a special edition of the standard Delta Integrale that included the iconic Martini rally stripes running down each side and around the centre of the tailgate. The interior was finished with Recaro seats in teal Alcantara with HF logos on the headrests, there’s a carbon-fibre plate around the gear-lever and a numbered plaque below it with the limited edition serial number. Externally, the Martini 6 cars have a Lancia logo on the rear of the roof, and the rear-mounted spoiler is emblazoned with the ‘Martini Racing’ decal, a ‘World Rally Champion’ badge adorns the tailgate along with the ‘6’ commemorating the number of World Rally Championships. Mechanically, the 310 Martini 6 limited edition cars were identical to the homologation Lancia Delta HF Integrale. They were fitted with the 210 bhp 1995cc 16-valve turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine, mated to a 5-speed transmission, rally-bred all-wheel drive, front and rear MacPherson strut independent suspension, and 4-wheel disc brakes. The Integrale you see here is a one-owner original car that was bought by its current owner in 1992, it’s been driven sparingly in the intervening years and is being offered now with just 28,000 kilometres on the odometer from new.
